Lauren Fincham is a southern Urban folk-rock singer/songwriter in Jacksonville, FL. When she asked me to help her with some music branding photos for her website I totally jumped at the chance! She is insanely talented (her photography BLOWS me away!) and SO much fun to be around! She can sing any song (even Brittany Spears but 1000 times better!) and many different instruments. She's a little Joni Mitchell with a Tori Amos edge.
C: When and why did you start playing?
Lauren: I started playing when I was 15. I just liked the way it felt to hold the guitar.
C: Which instruments do you play?
L: Acoustic and electric (rhythm guitar), percussion, and dulcimer
C: What was the first tune(s) you learned?
L: Little Black Egg by the Night Crawlers, and Last Thing on My Mind, by Tom Paxton
C: Which famous musicians do you admire? Why?
L: Joni Mitchell - for her adventurous nature. Prince - he could do and play anything. Elvis - he bridged a gap. Loretta Lynn - she has a natural story-telling gift.
C: Describe your first instrument.
L: Cheap acoustic guitar. The strings were so heavy and the action was so high, it was near impossible to play chords … but I kept trying.
C: Do you perform in public? Describe those occasions? Concerts, radio, TV?
L: Yes. Coffeehouses, outdoor venues, museums, and listening rooms. I have been on the radio and TV … locally. TV makes me giggle.
With four albums under her belt, her current album One Red Wing can be found on iTunes here and on her website along with upcoming shows and her beautiful art. Be sure to check out her video below images.
